Super Bowl XXXVIII – Kliff Kingsbury

Another legendary Texas Tech quarterback to win a Super Bowl title while backing up one of the greatest players in the game is current Texas Tech football head coach Kliff Kingsbury. In 2004, the New England Patriots beat the Carolina Panthers on a last-second field goal to win 32-29 in one of the greatest Super Bowls ever played.

The MVP that night was New England quarterback Tom Brady who is one of only three starting quarterbacks (along with Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana) to win four Super Bowls. So while Kingsbury was fortunate enough to win a Super Bowl ring with the Patriots, he did not see the field.

Kingsbury ranks second in Texas Tech football history in passing yards (12,429) and touchdown passes (95). In 2013 he was the first former Texas Tech football player to be named head coach of the Red Raiders. In three years as head coach he has a record of 19-19.
