Super Bowl XXXII & XXXIII – Anthony Lynn

Louis Vasquez is not the first Red Raider to help the Denver Broncos win a Super Bowl. In 1998 and 1999, running back Anthony Lynn who played at Texas Tech from 1988-1991, helped the Broncos’ earn the franchise’s first two world titles with wins over the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons.

Lynn was mainly a special teams member for the Broncos, which featured all-Pro running back Terrell Davis. At Texas Tech Lynn was a star earning all-Southwest Conference honors in 1990.

In his four seasons in Lubbock, Lynn amassed 1,972 yards and 20 touchdowns on the ground (adding three more receiving touchdowns to his ledger). The undrafted running back spent six years in the NFL with the Broncos and 49ers. He is now an assistant coach for the Buffalo Bills.

Lynn was part of the team that sent Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway into retirement as a champion. Now, it appears that Louis Vasquez might have done the same for future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning who is likely to retire after winning Super Bowl L this year.
