Nine-Consecutive Losses To Oklahoma State
In 2008, Texas Tech won consecutive top-10 home matchups for the first time in program history. Everyone remembers the win over Texas but the next week, No. 2 Tech demolished No. 9 OSU 56-20.
At that point, Tech held a 21-12 lead in the all-time series. But after last year’s disappointing 41-34 loss, the series is now even.

This losing streak has come as no surprise as OSU and Tech have traded places in the hierarchy of the Big 12. During the Mike Leach era, when Tech went 6-5 against the Cowboys, the Red Raiders were considered by most to be the third-best program in the conference.
But in the decade since, OSU head coach Mike Gundy has taken his program to new heights winning the Big 12 in 2011. As such, the Cowboys are viewed by many as the second-best program in the league behind their in-state rivals in Norman.
During the current nine-game losing streak, Tech has lost by an average of 19.4 points. Included in the streak are losses of 17, 18, 38 and 60 points.
And to end this losing streak this year, the Red Raiders will have to find a way to win in Stillwater. That is something Tech has not done since 2001 when junior QB Kliff Kingsbury threw for 440 yards and four TDs in a 49-30 win.
But OSU could be vulnerable this season. Like Tech, OSU is faced with replacing last season’s QB and the majority of its receiving corps. The Pokes also have a new defensive coordinator which will add a new degree of difficulty if the Pokes hope to have another 10-win season.
Tech has the fortune of playing OSU early in the season when their new pieces could still be trying to gel. If the Red Raiders can find their stride early, they could pull off a win in Stillwater to open Big 12 play and finally end their dreadful losing streak to a team they used to own.
