The Ugly: TCU QB Shawn Robinson
If Jett Duffey was mediocre, TCU QB Shawn Robinson was atrocious. Yes, he had better stats than his counterpart (26/45, 290 yards and two touchdowns) but he was the worse of the two quarterbacks.

Keep in mind that, Robinson was making his seventh career start, six more than Duffey. But despite that, and despite taking on a defense ranked No. 8 overall in the Big 12, the former 4-star recruit was a liability for his team.
In five of Robinson’s seven career starts, he has failed to throw for at least 200 yards. And though he did that last Thursday, he made some backbreaking mistakes with his arm.
He tossed two critical interceptions with the first coming in the end zone to take points off the board and the second coming on the final play of the game to seal the loss. Plus, he fumbled the ball twice but was lucky enough to have his team recover both.
In fact, he was so bad that after the game, his head coach openly questioned why offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie did not give backup Michel Collins an opportunity during the game.
For his career (yes, it is just seven games) Robins is just a 54.9% passer. He has only four more touchdowns (12) than interceptions (8) and he has fumbled an astonishing 10 times losing four. Of course, Texas Tech can’t seem to ever capitalize on those fumbles recovering only one of seven that he has put on the ground in two starts against the Red Raiders.
It is proof that high school success and recruiting rankings are often fool’s gold. Alan Bowman, a three-star prospect with only three FBS offers, is already a much better college quarterback than Robinson who was the most highly-touted recruit to ever ink with TCU.
Of course, give some of that credit to the coaching of Kliff Kingsbury, who is one of the best quarterback coaches in the nation. And even though Kingsbury’s work with Jett Duffey is yet to yield optimal results, the Red Raiders are in far better shape at the QB spot than the Frogs who are trying to figure out just what to do with Shawn Robinson after another awful performance.
