Offensive linemen- Tobias Braun; Bullard, Texas and Casey Collier; Mount Belvieu, Texas

Last week, we discussed the need for Wells to sign a full offensive line class in 2020.  He made progress on that front Saturday when 3-star OT Caleb Rogers verbally committed and he’s certainly looking to keep that momentum rolling.

Now, he has extended offers to two highly-regarded in-state linemen.  Tobias Braun, a 6-foot-7, 306-pound 3-star tackle from Bullard reported last week that he had received an offer from the Raiders as did Casey Collier, a 6-foot, 300-pound 3-star prospect from Mount Belvieu.

Braun holds offers from Arkansas, Arizona State, Florida State, Houston, Kansas State, Oregon, Nebraska and Iowa State among others.  In addition, he has taken an unofficial visit to Baylor.

Meanwhile, Collier is a 3-star prospect rated the No. 195 player in Texas and the No. 128 tackle in the nation.  Currently committed to Minnesota, he also holds offers from Arkansas State, Memphis, Louisiana-Monroe, North Texas and Tulane.

Following this year, Tech will lose four senior linemen expected who either start or will play significant roles this fall, including both starting tackles Terence Steele and Travis Bruffy.  And being as the Red Raiders signed only two offensive linemen in the class of 2019, Wells has to not only sign a full class this year but he has to hit on more of those prospects than he misses on.   The Red Raiders’ depth along the o-line is less than ideal, especially after this season so landing either of these two prospects would be a tremendous win for Matt Wells.
