Texas Tech basketball: Norense Odiase’s five best games as a Red Raider
No. 4: 14 points and 9 rebounds against Richmond in 2015
The season in which the Texas Tech basketball program truly began to rise from the dead was 2015-16, when Odiase was a sophomore. That year, the Red Raiders got off to an 11-1 start that included a nice 10-game winning streak that spanned from the third game of the season to the Big 12 opener.
And one of the key wins in the program’s longest winning streak since 2009-10 was an 85-70 win win over Richmond. And in that game, Odiase scored 14 points while pulling down nine rebounds in just 24 minutes of action.
Twelve of his points came in the second half as the Red Raiders helped keep the Spiders at bay. On the night, Odiase was particularly efficient and aggressive hitting 7-12 shots from the field.
What also helped the Red Raiders knock off the Spiders was a dominant performance on the glass. And Odiase led the way as Tech won the rebounding war 43-20.
Tech would end up making the NCAA Tournament that season for the first time since 2007 and their 9-1 record in non-conference play was a key reason why. And it could be argued that their win over a Richmond team that came into the game 8-3 was their best non-Big 12 win. In that game, Odiase was a force on the offensive end of the court and on the glass in helping his team stay hot.
