OF – Tanner O’Tremba

Against Army on Friday, Tadlock was forced to make some adjustments to his lineup because his usual starting center fielder, Dylan Neuse, was still recovering from a tweaked hamstring suffered in the Big 12 Tournament.  So Holt was moved to center field and freshman Tanner O’Tremba got the start in right field.

In just his 10th start of the season, the Parker, Colorado native rose to the occasion.  Going 3-4, he drove in three runs and scored twice to help spark the Red Raider offense.

In the Red Raiders’ first at-bat of the regional, O’Tremba opened the weekend’s scoring with a sacrifice fly, a good piece of situational hitting for a freshman.  And in the bottom of the fifth, he drove in two more runs with a double to left field, his sixth double of the season.

A .267 hitter on the year, O’Tremba tied a career high in hits and had his second-highest RBI total in a game this year.  He drove home seven runs against Kentucky back on February 24th.

It certainly was less than ideal for Tech to see its starting center fielder miss time in a regional but that is the way baseball sometimes goes.  But because of the big day from Tanner O’Tremba, the Red Raider offense did not miss a beat as the Red Raiders picked up an important win the in regional opener.
