Tech will have three-straight home games in October

This year, the Red Raiders went from the September 7th game against UTEP to the October 19th game against Iowa State with just one home game, October 5th against Oklahoma State.  And with this weekend’s road game at Kansas followed by an off week and then a trip to West Virginia, Tech will have played at home just twice in a span of 68 days by the time TCU comes to town on November 16.

Next year, that will not be the case as Tech will spend the vast majority of October in the Hub City.  That includes three-straight games at the Jones against West Virginia, Baylor, and Texas.  There is also an open Saturday between the visits of the Mountainers and the Bears, the reason why we will discuss in a moment.

This will be a critical stretch for next year.  After opening Big 12 play with a very difficult road test at Iowa State (you may be familiar with the fact that the Cyclones have beaten the Red Raiders 4-straight years), Tech has three potential toss-up games at home that provide an opportunity to get off to a strong start in conference play.

This will be the first three-game Big 12 homestand for Tech since 2002.  That year, the Red Raiders hosted Baylor, Oklahoma State, and Texas on consecutive weeks winning all three games.  If they are able to pull off another such run in 2020, they will set themselves up to be a potential player in the conference race in November for the first time in far too long.
