Left guard: Lonnie Edwards

To find our left guard, we go all the way back to the first year of the decade.  That year, the inaugural season of the Tommy Tuberville debacle, left guard Lonnie Edwards earned second-team All-Big 12 honors as a junior.

He finished his career in 2011 with 35 overall starts including 33-straight to finish up.  A 3-year starter, the 6-foot-4, 320-pounder was a mauler inside.

A 2007 signee from Brownsboro, Texas, he was a 3-star prospect and first-team all-state selection for Class 3A.  The No. 52 player in Texas that year, he also had offers from Arizona, Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Purdue, and Ole Miss.

I also considered the merits of Alfredo Morales, who finished his career at Tech in 2015 with 38 stats on his ledger.  That year, he was a second-team All-Big 12 honoree of the Associated Press.

He was also part of a line that helped lead the way for DeAndre Washington to rush for 1,000 yards in both 2014 and 2015.  That was a first for a Texas Tech running back in the Air Raid era of the program.

Finally, Madison Akamnonu who appeared in 48 games from 2016-18 including 36 starts made an impact this decade.  But at times he was unable to hold down the starting job such as in 2018 when he was replaced mid-season by JUCO transfer Jacob Hines.
