No. 1: vs. Oklahoma State 2019

The only time Jett Duffey won a start in Lubbock was also Tech’s only Big 12 win at home in 2019.  On the first Saturday of October, Duffey threw for 424 yards and 4 touchdowns as Tech took down No. 21 Oklahoma State 45-35 at The Jones.

Helping his team jump out to a 20-0 lead, Duffey picked up the game’s first touchdown with his legs when he scrambled for a 16-yard TD for a 10-0 lead.  In the second quarter, he hooked up with Carter for a 14-yard TD to put the home team in complete control 20-0.

After halftime, OSU made things interesting but Duffey always had an answer.  He and Vasher teamed up for a 21-yard TD to open the third quarter and he hit Dalton Rigdon for an 8-yard score two drives later.

The back-breaking play came in the 4th quarter when he and Ezukanma burned the Cowboys for a 56-yard TD to put Tech us 45-27.  It was a perfect ending to Duffey’s best game as a Red Raider.

This was an effort from Duffey that could not have been scripted any better.  While his OSU counterpart, Spencer Sanders, was busy committing five turnovers, he was protective of the ball while also being aggressive with his reads and decisions.

What’s more, all aspects of his game were on display as he made plays with his arm and feet.  If Duffey is going to send out one tape to potential suitors, it needs to be this one because the way he played that day in Lubbock, many thought he might be ready to take the starting job by the throat.  Of course, that didn’t happen because performances such as this were just too few and far between at Tech for Duffey.
