Honorable Mention

Stop for a minute and consider that the players that have the second and third-most receiving yards in a single season don’t make our all-decade team and you can see how strong this position group has been for the last ten years.

Keke Coutee was as explosive as any Red Raider this decade in 2017 when he had 1,429 yards and 10 touchdowns on 93 catches.  But he left after that year for the NFL.  In 2018, Antoine Wesley had 1,410 yards and 8 touchdowns but because he also left early for the NFL after the season, he was only a one-year contributor and doesn’t make our list.

Dylan Cantrell was also a solid receiver from 2013-17 with 1,873 yards and 8 touchdowns on 158 receptions.  For two seasons, he played with Midland’s Bradley Marquez who caught 155 passes for 1,866 yards and 17 touchdowns.  Interestingly, both his first career catch and his final career catch as a Red Raider went for scores.

Then there was Reginald Davis who had 96 catches and 1,301 yards from 2013-16.  Playing alongside him was Devin Lauderdale who had 105 catches for 1,535 yards and 15 scores from 2014-16.

There have also been some notable inside receivers other than Coutee to come through the program in the last ten years.  That’s not surprising given that this is the school that made slot receivers invaluable in the game of football.

Cam Batson hauled in 157 passes for 1,499 yards and 14 touchdowns from 2014-17.   Jonathan Giles finished his time as a Red Raider with 55 catches for 1,313 yards and 16 touchdowns before transferring to LSU following the 2016 season.

We also saw Hereford’s Ja’Deion High finally get a shot to start in 2018, his sixth year in the program.  He played well with 804 yards and 4 touchdowns on 62 receptions.  All were useful players who had their moments but came up short of making our rather stacked all-decade team.
