UT’s Ramey is averaging 20.7 points per game in his last four outings

Carrying the offensive scoring load in Sims’ absence has been sophomore guard Courtney Ramey.  For the season, he’s averaged a nice 11.4 p.p.g., second-best on the UT roster, but in his last four contests, he’s put up 20.7.

During that stretch, he’s had three games of 21 or more points and has not scored fewer than 15 points in any game.  Prior to that, his season-high was 20 points, which he reached only once.

The St. Louis native was a non-factor when Tech won in Austin.  He had just five points on 2-9 shooting and he was just 1-5 from behind the 3-point arc.

However, he’s found his stroke from deep during his recent uptick.  In each of his 21-plus-point games over the last two weeks, he’s made at least two threes.  In all, he’s gone 7-19 in his last four games.

This year, he’s been just a 31.9% shooter from behind the arc.  Thus, one might think that it would be best to let him have some looks from deep.  But the reality is that he’s been shooting at a much different level from downtown lately and he can’t be left open today.

Keep an eye on No. 3 for the Longhorns in this one.  It would be wise to think that Tech will pay him plenty of extra attention on defense because if he stays hot, he could carry his team to an upset.
