Tech hosted a plethora of offensive linemen, which is a position of need in this class

If this class does nothing else, it had better restock the program’s offensive line reserves.  That’s why it was not surprising to see the high number of players at that position on campus earlier this month.

Currently, Tech is looking to replace three seniors that graduated from last year’s starting offensive line and next offseason, Tech will likely lose right guard Jack Anderson to the NFL.  What’s more, this will be the last year of the career of Zach Adams, who is presumed to be the frontrunner for one of the starting tackle positions.

In two more years, about the time that the class of 2021 is set to arrive, Tech will have starting center Dawson Deaton and presumed 2020 starting tackle Casey Verhulst entering their final season in the program.  The problem is that the recent offensive line recruiting classes have been rather scant and there are only eight scholarship players on the roster who are sophomores or redshirt freshmen.

In other words, Tech has to increase its depth along the offensive line with a full class in 2021.  Fortunately, there are some impressive prospects interested in the Red Raiders.

One of the best is Jack Tucker from Argyle, Texas.  The three-star prospect is the No. 103 player in Texas and he holds offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Ole Miss, Illinois, Minnesota, Southern Cal, and many more.  At 6-foot-5, 265 pounds, he’s the No. 75 tackle in the country.

In the last two recruiting classes, the Red Raiders signed a total of just five offensive linemen.  Thus, Wells will be without question putting a high priority on this position group in the current recruiting cycle.  Every good offense starts with a good line and Tech had better start finding its next wave of starters because before long, the years of poor recruiting at that position could become problematic.
