No. 5: vs. Texas

In one of the many games down the stretch in which the Red Raiders laid a collective egg, the late-season 68-58 home loss to Texas, McCullar was again his typically steady self.  With 12 points, he was second on the team in scoring, one point behind Jahmi’us Ramsey, and he also came down with two rebounds while making five of his six shots from the floor.

That was his best shooting game of the year in which he attempted at least six field goals.  He was 4-4 from two-point range and 1-2 from behind the arc, which was rare given that he made just eight threes all season.

But though this was a solid showing, it was a bit less impactful than some of his other five starts.  His two rebounds were his fewest of any of his starts and the fewest he had in a game in which he played over 25 minutes.

What’s more, it was one of only two of his starts in which he didn’t have a steal and one of two starts in which he didn’t have an assist.  Still, he was one of the only Red Raiders that was able to say that he played anywhere near his usual standard in that game.  On a day when the rest of the starters shot a combined 10-35 from the floor, it’s hard to complain too much about anything McCullar did against the Longhorns.
