UNLV transfer Amauri Hardy

UNLV fans would detest the idea of losing another member of their program to Texas Tech after seeing both Chris Beard and 2019 transfer Joel Ntambwe bolt Vegas for Lubbock but Tech is pursuing grad transfer guard Amauri Hardy.  The 6-foot-2 guard is in the transfer portal and has heard from the Red Raiders.

Last year, Hardy averaged 14.5 points, 3.3 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game.  He also shot 33% from behind the arc and just under 70% at the line.

"One scout gave the following assessment of Hardy to Stadium’s Jeff Goodman: “Dynamic ball-in-hand guard. Outstanding finisher at the rim and very capable from 3. He can definitely play at the high-major level.”"

“Dynamic” with the ball?  Yes, please.  “Outstanding” when finishing at the rim?  Yes, please.

Those are two traits that Tech’s guards were severely lacking this past season.  Thus, it’s easy to see how Hardy would fit on next season’s roster.

Right now, many people think Kentucky is in the driver’s seat for Hardy and that’s partly because the Wildcats are also heavily in the mix for his younger brother Jaden Hardy, the No. 6 player in the class of 2021.  For what it’s worth, the younger Hardy does hold an offer from Tech according to 247Sports, but that site has him headed to Kentucky in its crystal ball predictions.

Right now, it seems like the Blue Grass State is where both Hardys may wind up but until we know for certain, Amauri Hardy is a name to watch.  After all, it would be so poetic for Tech to pilfer more talent away from UNLV given the way the people in charge in Vegas acted last year during Joel Ntambwe‘s eligibility waiver process.
