17 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists vs. TCU

There were three games this year against low-major teams in which Ramsey had at least 20 points, including his season-high of 27 against Long Island University.  Those games won’t appear on this list because I don’t value performances against teams that can hardly spell “basketball”, much less play it as much as I do games against major opponents.

With that said, the fifth-best game of Ramsey’s season in my estimation was his performance against TCU in Lubbock.  After struggling against the Horned Frogs in Fort Worth in one of the season’s worst losses, the Red Raiders simply unloaded on their hated rivals in the return game handing out an 88-42 win, the program’s largest victory ever in Big 12 play.

That night, Ramsey didn’t need to be great because, by halftime, Tech had already scored more points than TCU would score all night (45 as opposed to TCU’s final total of 42).  But what he was in the game was efficient.  That wasn’t always the case for him this season.

On his way to 17 points, Ramsey shot 7-11 from the floor and 2-3 from behind the arc.  In the 12 games in which he scored at least 17 points, this was tied for his third-best outing in regard to field goal percentage.  It was also the fewest minutes he played (24) against a major-conference opponent in a game in which he had 17 or more points.

On the other hand, only six of his points came in the first half as Tech built a 25-point lead.  However, his efforts must still be appreciated, especially considering the fact that he had only one turnover while dishing out two assists.

Against TCU in Lubbock, almost every Red Raider had a fantastic night.  Thus, Ramsey’s game was not all that memorable given the way Tech buried the Horned Frogs.  Still, this was a very nice showing for the freshman in a game in which his team desperately wanted to exact some revenge after being humbled in Fort Worth.
