Texas brings back steady RB Keaontay Ingram
We don’t need to talk any more about UT QB Sam Ehlinger. By now, we all know about the senior and can’t wait for him to graduate so we don’t have to hear the national media disproportionately gush over him anymore.

So let’s take a look at the guy he will be handing the ball to quite a bit, Keaontay Ingram. Last year, the Texas running backs looked like a World War I battalion after a month of combat and it forced Tom Herman to get creative with his roster.
That shouldn’t be an issue this year as UT is bringing in 5-star 2020 signee Bijan Robinson to help out. But Ingram is going to be the guy to begin the year and he’s expected to be a 1,000-yard back. He came close last season with 853 yards to go along with 7 TDs.
It was his second-straight season of at least 700 yards to begin his career. What’s more, he had at least 70 yards in eight of 13 contests last year.
But Texas Tech fans may not know all that much about him because he’s yet to truly go nuts when facing the Red Raiders. Last season, he carried the ball just twice for 17 yards when Tech lost in Austin and the year prior, he had a decent but unremarkable game rushing for 83 yards and a TD on 14 attempts in Lubbock.
Still, look for Ingram to be a busy man in Austin this year. After all, Texas has to replace most of its starting receiving corps from a year ago.
We are going to hear tons about Ehlinger being the best QB in the conference and a Heisman Trophy contender but I’ll believe that when I see it. Instead, let’s keep an eye on what his backfield partner does because if UT develops a dominant running game, it will indeed make Ehlinger’s life far easier and that could propel the Longhorns to the Big 12 title game.
