No. 2: Michael Crabtree 2008

Welcome to the Michael Crabtree portion of the program.  I’m sure you knew it was bound to arrive.

In all honesty, his 2008 season was not as statistically dominant as some on this list, at least from a yardage perspective.  He caught 97 passes for 1,165 yards and 19 TDs.

However, the historical significance of that season puts it as the second-best in program history.  After all, it was his second-straight Biletnikoff Award-winning season.  He also earned first-team All-American honors for the second-straight year.

Of course, he also gave us some tremendous and singular moments that year.  At the top of the list was his game-winning TD in the final seconds to beat No. 1 Texas.  But don’t forget, that year he also came up with a huge catch on 4th down against Nebraska as Mike Leach rolled the dice in his own territory late in the 4th quarter.

Teams sold out that year to try to limit is effectiveness.  That was one reason he had just four 100-yard games.

Still, he was the most feared and dominant receiver in the nation.  But that season didn’t come close to comparing to what he did as a freshman.
