No. 2: Tim Tadlock

Just ahead of Beard is another Texas Tech head coach who is knocking on the door of a National Title.  Just like Beard and the Final Four, it feels as if it is a matter of time before Tim Tadlock’s baseball team brings home a College World Series crown.

But what puts Tadlcok slightly ahead of Beard is that he has gotten to his sport’s premier event four times rather than just once.  That was something once thought by many outside of West Texas to be an impossibility.

In just his second year (2014) Tadlock proved the doubters wrong and reached Omaha.  Since then, he’s returned in 2016, 2018, and 2019.  And each year, his team has performed better than the previous trip.

In 2019, Tech was able to be one of the last four teams standing at the CWS coming within just two wins of playing for the title.  And before the 2020 season was canceled, people around the nation believed that Tadlock’s latest team had the best shot of any of his teams to win it all.

As for the Big 12, Tadlock has made Tech the premier program in the conference.   He’s captured three regular-season league crowns (2016, 2017, and 2019) and he’s put up an overall mark of 297-149.  All he has left to accomplish is winning it all in Omaha.  Red Raider fans are confident that day is quickly approaching.
