Forward: Jason Sasser

If Dallas’ Jason Sasser isn’t the best player to ever play for the Red Raiders, there aren’t many ahead of him on that list. That’s why he’s one of the starting forwards for the DWF team.

For his career, he averaged 17.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.  With off the charts athleticism, he was a slasher who could get to the rim at will.

But he was not a great 3-point shooter as he hit just 28.5% of his shots from deep.  Still, he had a deadly mid-range game that kept opposing defenders from being able to ignore his jumper.

He was the 1996 Southwest Conference Player of the Year and a three-time All-SWC First-Team honoree.  To this day, he ranks fourth on Texas Tech’s all-time scoring list with 2,104 career points.

The 6-foot-7 matchup nightmare was an All-America Third-Team honoree and a Wooden Award Finalist in 1995-96. That year, the Red Raiders went 30-2 and advanced to the 1996 NCAA Sweet 16 during his senior season.

Scoring wasn’t all that the ultra-intense Sasser provided though.  He ranks 5th in program history with 895 career rebounds and he sits at 8th with 144 steals.

Every team needs a tone-setter and that’s what Sasser would be for this team.  He never took plays off and never seemed to exhibit a dip in aggressiveness or passion.  That’s why he’d be so crucial to this star-studded all-time team.
