Bowman says he feels great

I doubt Alan Bowman is a Robert Earl Keen fan but you have to wonder if he would relate to the line of the legendary Texas singer-songwriter that says “It feels so good, feelin’ good again”.  That’s because Bowman says that he feels fantastic after a collar bone injury ended his season just three games into the 2019 schedule.

"“I even forgot I broke my collarbone last year,” Bowman said. “I can’t even feel it.  [I] gained a bunch of weight so I’m ready to rock and roll.”"

Many people were concerned about the mental toll that two-straight seasons of significant injuries might take on the young QB.  Many even felt that prior to last year’s injury, Bowman may have been playing as if he were still thinking about the two collapsed lung injuries he sustained in 2018 as he was often observed throwing off his back foot rather than stepping into his throws.  However, he said on Saturday that he feels great mentally.

"“I’m so ready to get back out there,” he said.  “I’m so ready to play because it’s been so long…  And obviously redshirting and being smart and saving that year, but yeah, I’m just so ready.  Nothing else matters.  I just want to play.”"

Bowman will have precious little time to knock the rust off by facing live action.  With just one non-conference game on this year’s slate, he had best be prepared for the demands, both physical and mental, of Big 12 play because game two of the season brings the Texas Longhorns to town.

Interestingly, it will be the first time in his career that Bowman has faced Texas.  And what better way to signal to the Texas Tech fan base and all of the Big 12 that he is indeed back than by taking down the Horns in his first conference game in two calendar years.
