@ Kansas State
Maybe playing in front of an empty Snyder Family Stadium will be the key to ending Texas Tech’s curse in Manhattan, Kansas. After all, Tech hasn’t won at Kansas State, where the stand are almost always packed, since 2008.
This year, Tech travels to face the Wildcats in the third game of the year, one week after opening Big 12 play against Texas and a week before heading to Iowa State. Because the meeting with the Wildcats falls in between contests against two teams that are expected to contend for the conference title if Tech doesn’t win in the Sunflower State, Matt Wells’ team could be looking at an 0-3 start to Big 12 play and a 1-3 start overall.
Though KSU will likely be the favorite in this game, this is one Tech can win. After all, KSU was picked just 7th in the preseason Big 12 poll (Tech was picked 9th).
Keep in mind that Kansas State is being tasked with replacing 28 seniors and 15 starters from last season’s surprising 8-win team. That includes all five starters on the offensive line.
Last year, that unexpectedly good KSU team was able to beat a 4-8 Red Raider team by just three points. Don’t be surprised to see KSU take a step back and if Tech can do the opposite and improve, this could be the year the Red Raiders finally leave Manhattan with a win.
