@ TCU – win

When Texas Tech has played in Fort Worth since 2016, they’ve won.  That continues this year, especially if the Frogs are without starting QB Max Duggan who may not play at all this season due to a heart condition diagnosed this offseason.

Were Duggan to play this year, I might give the edge in this one to the Frogs but being as the game’s most critical position is now looking like a problem for Gary Patterson’s team, it is not out of the question to think that Tech can come out of Among G. Carter Stadium with another win.

Don’t forget that the Frogs were just 5-7 last year.  And this season, they have to replace last year’s starting QB, No. 1 corner, best defensive lineman, top wide receiver, and starting left tackle.  That’s going to make it especially difficult for Gary Patterson to make huge strides in 2020.

The people in purple will be hoping that 5-star RB signee Zachary Evans can prove to be their workhorse.  But it looks like he might be their only difference-maker on that side of the football.

What’s more, on defense TCU lost half of last year’s sacks.  But they do bring back linebacker Garrett Wallow who led the Big 12 with 125 tackles in 2019.

However, many believe that this will not be a typical Patterson secondary.  That’s because the Horned Frogs lost two starting corners and will likely be starting a freshman at safety.

Alan Bowman has never faced TCU.  Assuming that he does so this year, he should give the Red Raiders a huge edge at the QB position if Duggan is unable to play in 2020  That and the fact that Tech returns far more productivity than does TCU should give the Red Raiders their third-straight win in Cowtown.
