5-star RB Bijan Robinson is an explosive threat

It appears that the UT running back job is going to be a group effort this season.  In fact, earlier in fall practice, head coach Tom Herman said that he doesn’t have a true starting RB in the traditional sense.

While it is expected that junior Keontay Ingram is going to be the first option in the UT backfield after he ran for 853 yards and 7 TDs last fall, Red Raider fans also need to learn about Bijan Robinson.

Rated as the No. 1 RB recruit in the class of 2020, the Arizona native is a true big-play threat.  In week one, the 6-foot, 222-pounder carried the ball five times for 38 yards, an average of 7.6 per carry.

Interestingly,  almost all of his yards came on one rush, a 29-yard scamper.  But while he didn’t show much for the rest of the evening, he will figure to get more action this week behind Ingram.

"“He’s put together like a guy that’s been in college for four years. Fast. Big. Soft hands. Unbelievable body control. He’s as good a kid as we have on the team and I mean that from the bottom of my heart,” Herman told the media via a teleconference in August."

The Red Raider rush defense was not tested by Houston Baptist, which ran the ball for just 24 times for 28 yards. That should change this weekend against a balanced UT attack.

While Red Raider fans likely remember Ingram from last year, keep an eye on Robinson as well.  He’s yet another 5-star talent to sign with the Longhorns and he should be an x-factor in this weekend’s game.
