RB Darwin Barlow is their leading rusher

If the Red Raiders don’t get healthy in the front seven of the defense with middle LB Krishon Merriweather, DE Tony Bradford Jr., and DT Nick McCann all trying to work back from injuries that caused them to miss the OU game, TCU’s Darwin Barlow could have his second-straight big game.

Last week against Baylor, the redshirt freshman ran for 117 yards and a TD on just 16 carries.  Included in that performance was a 74-yard touchdown scamper.

However, the rest of the season has been rather pedestrian for the 5-foot-11, 204-pounder.  Outside of the Baylor game, he has not topped 56 yards in any game and he’s run for a total of just 111 yards and two TDs.

In lat year’s game against Tech, TCU racked up 226 yards and a TD on the ground.  They had three players run for at least 63 yards as they were able to use a balanced attack to eke out a victory.

Ranked No. 7 in the Big 12 against the run by giving up 159.7 yards per game on the ground, Tech has something to prove this week after being run over by Oklahoma.  Tech let the Sooners amass 213 yards and 6 TDs on the ground and that isn’t something that can continue if this week’s results are going to be any better.

Fortunately, TCU doesn’t have the type of talent at RB that OU has.  In fact, thus far Barlow has really been their only rushing threat other than Duggan.  Therefore, it will be imperative that the Red Raiders don’t let him have an encore of last week’s performance.
