Texas Tech football: Key recruiting targets to watch ahead of early signing day
A JUCO DT who has a ton of offers

That’s because the 6-foot-4, 295-pounder has an offer list that suggests he will be on a Power 5 campus next semester. In addition to Tech, he has offers from the likes of Baylor, Florida State, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, Virginia Tech, and Washington State.
Because Iton has not played this year, he isn’t ranked by any of the recruiting services. But his offer list suggests he’s ready to contribute at a major program and Tech needs some help at defensive tackle.
The Red Raiders recently saw the departure of senior Nick McCann, a key backup behind starter Jaylon Hutchings. What’s more, there are no defensive tackles committed in the 2021 class at this point other than Demeco Roland, a JUCO tackle who is a grade risk.
Landing Iton will be tough given his offer list. What’s more, Tech was a bit late to this party. But if Wells and Co. can win this recruiting battle, it would be a significant development at a position that is perilously thin on the current roster.
