Can Kyler Edwards use this game as a springboard?

Tech sill needs more from Kyler Edwards than it has been receiving.  While he did have 9 points against KSU in round one, that came on just 3-9 shooting and 1-5 from long distance.

But Edwards has a history of coming up big against KSU.  Most notably was the last time he played in Manhattan when he had 24 huge points on 9-14 shooting and 3-4 from 3-point range last season.

Perhaps another strong effort like that will be in store for the junior today.  After all, he tends to play better against unranked Big 12 teams than he does against those in the top 25.

Today, let’s see if Edwards plays with confidence and doesn’t hesitate, especially early, when shots present themselves.  And being as he’s already had a career day at Bramlage Coliseum, maybe he will feel at ease in this road environment.

If that best-case scenario plays out and Edwards finds himself today, it could lead to a better stretch of play for a player who has been a disappointment when it comes to his offensive game this year.  It’s been five games since the Arlington native has hit double digits in the scoring column and I think that changes today.  Hopefully, that will propel him to a strong stretch of basketball, which Tech will need with the upcoming gauntlet that the schedule will bring.
