Contain Adam Flagler

While Tech got only two points from its top reserve in the first meeting with Baylor, the Bears got a surprising 15 points from their top bench scorer, Adam Flagler.  Today, Tech has to do a better job of keeping the sharpshooting guard from having a repeat performance.

For the year, the 6-foot-3 guard is averaging 9.8 points per game.  And most of that comes from the 3-point line as he is shooting 42% from deep.

Ten times this year, he’s scored at least 10 points.  Today, Tech’s goal should be to keep him from reaching that mark.

In January, he was 5-8 overall and 3-6 from 3-point land and if he repeats that performance today, it will be hard for Tech to win.  And keeping him under wraps will be critical because Flagler has become quite the clutch performer for Baylor.

For instance, when Baylor returned to the court after a three-week COVID-19 pause, he carried his team to a win over a feisty Iowa State team with 22 points.  He’s a source of instant offense off the bench and the moment he steps on the floor, he has to be accounted for.

Today, he shouldn’t surprise anyone on the Red Raider.  He has already burned them once and they should make it a point to keep that from happening again.  If they don’t, they likely won’t come home from Waco with a win.
