If one had to argue who is the prize of the 2023 recruiting class, they might say Brenden Jordan. Rated a four-star recruit by 247 Sports and ESPN, Jordan decided to stay in Texas over going to a Pac-12 school such as USC or Arizona. The Mansfield defensive back helped lead his school to their first playoff appearance since 2017 and is now hoping to replace some talent in Tech’s secondary.

With guys like Adrian Frye and Marquis “Muddy” Waters gone, there will be a few new faces on the back end of this defense. Currently, Jordan is listed as the backup to C.J. Baskerville at the STAR position on defense. Baskerville comes in with plenty of experience and it would be wise for Jordan to stay in his hip pocket ready for when his name is called.

Injuries always happen in football and while Baskerville is fully entrenched as the starter, Jordan is not far behind. Most freshmen go through a redshirt season when they first arrive, but clearly, it appears the coaches expect Jordan to contribute this season. With loads of talent at the receiver position in the Big 12, this freshman will need to do his homework, though, if he hopes to be a difference-maker.
