Krista Gerlich and her Texas Tech women’s basketball team are heading into their final regular season game with one last big chance to showcase that they are among the best in the Big 12. The Lady Raiders have talent and have done great things this season.
And they’re also currently on a two-game skid that really needs to come to an end sooner rather than later. Or, well, I’d prefer it if that was the case. So, with this game, I have questions. Let’s chat about them for a minute.
No. 1: Will Texas Tech’s offense come to life again when the Lady Raiders face Arizona State?
I, for one, greatly appreciate it when Texas Tech decides that it’s capable of scoring a lot of points. I, generally, don’t love when the Lady Raiders aren’t getting points on the scoreboard in a very productive manner. Against Kansas, Texas Tech scored just 59 points.
Looking through the stats and season results, Texas Tech doesn’t win if it’s scoring below 60 points. Just flat out, the Lady Raiders are 0-2 in that regard. So, let’s score some points, please?
No. 2: Can Texas Tech slow the Sun Devils’ leading scorers?
How will the Lady Raiders handle an Arizona State Sun Devils team that is averaging 67.5 points per game and is managing to be led by Gabby Elliott (16.4 points per game), McKinna Brackens (15.3 points per game), and Heloia Carrera (10 points per game). Are the Lady Raiders prepared to slow down that trio of double digit scorers from Arizona State?
No. 3: How does this game impact Texas Tech heading into the postseason?
A win here obviously is a lot better than a loss would be. A win here gets Texas Tech a little bit of positive movement and ready for the Big 12 tournament and then also the NCAA tournament. A loss would lower Texas Tech’s seeding for the conference championship and would certainly worsen Texas Tech’s postseason resume. So, you know, wins are better than losses. Let’s get one, please.
