Krista Gerlich and the No. 20 ranked Texas Tech Lady Raiders are entering 2026 senior day with an opportunity to continue building some momentum, improving their resume, and ending a losing streak as the regular season wraps up.
This Texas Tech women’s basketball team has been perplexing at times and it'd be great if they could get back to their winning ways as they meet up with the Arizona State Sun Devils in the final game of the season.
With the Lady Raiders having lost their last two games, falling to the Colorado Buffaloes and then dropping a game against the Kansas Jayhawks, a win vs Arizona State would help make things feel a little better before the start of the 2026 Big 12 women’s basketball tournament.
Texas Tech Lady Raiders aiming to end losing streak as they meet up with the Arizona State Sun Devils on Senior Day in Lubbock
Interestingly enough, and thankfully enough, Arizona State is entering this game fresh off a loss of their own. The Sun Devils were unable to beat the BYU Cougars in their last matchup. So, both teams need a win. Both teams will have a chance to do so to finish the regular season.
It’ll be fascinating to see how this game plays out. Will we see Texas Tech’s bench step up in a big way? Will we see the Lady Raiders routinely block some shots from Arizona State? Who ends up winning the rebounding battle here?
It’s worth noting that Texas Tech has done a great job of outscoring Big 12 opponents in the second quarter. While Texas Tech hasn’t always started the game all that hot, in conference play, the second quarter and the Lady Raiders’ roster depth really works out for them. They’ve managed to outscore all opponents by 154 points and then they’ve outscored Big 12 foes by 56 points in the quarter.
Should Texas Tech be able to build that solid early lead with a strong moment in the second quarter, this is a game that the Lady Raiders should be able to win. We’ll see.
