There are a ton of new faces out in Lubbock these days. The Texas Tech Red Raiders thrived in the transfer portal, picking up a number of new players who have the potential to have a huge impact on Texas Tech this coming season.
And the Red Raiders, well, there’s a lot to be excited about. Brock Osweiler, during the recent Big 12 media days, pointed that out. But he also managed to note how there are some things that Texas Tech will need to navigate even with all of the talent that the Red Raiders accumulated.
“Now the question is, can you bring all that potential together?” Osweiler asked. “Can you bring all those portal additions together and gel in time to go out and put together a special season?”
Which, you know, those are certainly fair questions. Very fair questions. These are very important questions that Texas Tech will need to answer this year. We really don’t know just yet how things will play out.
Brock Osweiler asks huge question about Texas Tech’s chemistry as Red Raiders overhauled their roster ahead of 2025 season
And while Osweiler asked those huge questions of the Red Raiders, he also took some time to point out some of the leaders who are returning to help Texas Tech move forward.
“Your quarterback Behren Morton, he’s fully healthy, he’s been cleared to go,” Osweiler said. “If he can stay healthy throughout the season with all your guys' portal additions that you’ve made on the offensive line.”
As for leaders on the defensive side of the ball (aside from the numerous portal additions on a defensive line that Osweiler certainly praised)?
“Then you go back to Jacob Rodrigues and I could just keep listing guys on and on and on,” Osweiler said. “There’s a lot to be excited about and love.”
But, as we’ve discussed, those huge questions are definitely going to be near the top of people’s minds ahead of this season. There is a lot to be excited about. There’s a lot to look forward to with the way the Red Raiders are assembled, between the returning leaders and the new additions. We’ll see how all of that meshes with the team chemistry this season.
