The Texas Tech Red Raiders just managed to pick up a 5-star commitment out of Baltimore and the broader college football community isn’t entirely thrilled about that. While folks tend to like underdog stories, they’re not too happy that Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders just earned a commitment from Anthony Sweeney.
The commitment has turned heads across the country and fans aren’t shy about sharing their thoughts.
Maybe it’s because Texas Tech just managed to pick up a commitment from a guy that is ranked among the best athletes in this recruiting cycle. Maybe it’s because this is a reminder that Texas Tech isn’t the program that it was 5 or 10 or 15 years ago. This is a really impressive Red Raiders program.
Tech did just manage to beat out a number of elite programs to get Sweeney. And that’s ruffled some feathers.
College football fans can’t believe that the Texas Tech Red Raiders just landed a 5-star edge out of Baltimore
It sure seemed like a few folks were bitter about the whole deal.
Money over winnings has become a new thing I see😂.

Money can't buy wining tradition. The wining culture just doesn't exist at Tech. At least not against teams like Oregon and especially not those top 10 teams. If Tech was serious about wining by getting better, they would have followed A&M and Texas. They want it to come easy

Maybe Texas Tech can change it fight song to the theme from Dallas

You can't play teams like Stephen F Austin along with the easy big 12 schedule because then your team will be shell shoched in the first round of the CFP. Wining in a tough conference should be the standard to making CFP. Conference winners shouldn't automatically get in.

I mean, Sonja seemed really offended by the whole deal and was really focused on Texas Tech’s schedule for some reason or another. I have no clue why.
Anyways, there’s a lot of folks who are up in arms over the fact that the Red Raiders (a program that is historically an underdog program) is finding a route to success.
This not gonna stick. This commitment so random 😂😂 this what paying for commitment will do for you

Another 5 star to drop 0 points in a playoff game

There is some validity in pointing out that there is plenty of time for things to play out on the recruiting trail with this one (and really any and all highly sought after recruits that are committing this early in the process).
But still, Texas Tech just landed a 5-star talent from Baltimore over the likes of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, and Ohio State Buckeyes. Let’s enjoy that a bit.
