College football fans don’t seem too enamored with Texas Tech Red Raiders quarterback Brendan Sorsby right now. Generally speaking, it looks like many folks aren’t amused with the situation that he’s in regarding the gambling investigation and the lawsuit with the NCAA.

In court documents, the NCAA is claiming that Sorsby, who transferred to play for the Red Raiders back in January, was moving money to other people to place bets for him even after he transferred to join the Texas Tech football team.

It’s safe to say that things there took a sharp turn in a way that doesn’t look good for Sorsby or his defense of his actions. Those details are going to get the attention of college football fans who are paying attention (and plenty of college football fans are paying attention given how high profile of a case this happens to be).

This comes in the wake of the NCAA denying eligibility for Sorsby and Texas Tech’s president vowing that the university would fight the decision in an appeal. And of course, this news is also coming out ahead of Sorsby’s court date with the NCAA on Monday.

That’s a lot for people to try to process.

College football fans weigh in as the NCAA claims Brendan Sorsby was transferring money for bets after transferring to Texas Tech

Here’s how college football fans are reacting to this situation with Sorsby and the NCAA:

Just generally speaking, people aren’t sympathetic for Sorsby and the Red Raiders on this one. And this is in a situation that involves the NCAA, who is generally seen as a party that people don’t like siding with. But given the circumstances, they’re not really taking pity on Sorsby.

It’s a tough situation to try to win. I don’t envy the lawyer that has to go through all of this work to try and make this case. It really seems unlikely that Sorsby is going to have any sort of leg to stand on with this one.

And yeah, I’ll be curious to see how this all plays out for each of the institutions that Sorsby was a member of. How does Cincinnati not become a bigger part of this story?
