In the second game without JT Toppin complimenting his skillset and helping create further opportunities for him, Christian Anderson just made himself look like a complete and total force of nature that other teams will definitely struggle to keep up with and try to slow down.Â
He was exactly the sort of player that the Texas Tech Red Raiders needed in that moment.
On Tuesday evening, Anderson managed to finish with 31 points (which is really, really good for a game in which your team scores 80 total points). To go along with those 31 points, Anderson happened to grab a career high in rebounds as he snagged 11 (giving him a double-double) and then managed to deal out seven assists.
That sort of dominant showing came at a time when Texas Tech definitely needed a star to take a game over. As a result, Anderson just demonstrated how impressive he can be. That should definitely help as Texas Tech tries to make a run at things this season.
Christian Anderson was a double-double machine for No. 16 Texas Tech as the Red Raiders pummeled the Cincinnati Bearcats
Losing Toppin hurt from both a scoring and a rebounding perspective, but Anderson demonstrated that he’s more than capable of doing both for the Red Raiders as he’s asked to take things up a notch.Â
In this game, Anderson managed to go 11-of-19 from the field and then also made 3-of-8 from the three point line. Along with that, he also managed to go a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line. Oh, and he had the capability to play an eye popping 40 minutes in this game.Â
Nobody in this game managed to get more rebounds than the 6-foot-3 guard for the Red Raiders. Of the 40 rebounds that Texas Tech happened to get, Anderson found a way to get 11 of them.Â
With this win, Anderson is averaging 19.6 points per game, 7.7 assists per game, and then just 3.9 rebounds per game. But it’s worth noting that if he has more games like this, then that rebound average will go up in a hurry.
