Texas Tech’s 2027 recruiting class is one of the best in recent years for the Red Raiders, but it looks like one of the headliners of the class might be interested in playing somewhere else. Or at least it looks like Benny Easter Jr. is willing to weigh all of his options as he considers what his college football career could look like.
Easter recently took to social media to announce and hype up an upcoming visit to the Ohio State Buckeyes that he has later this week. A 4-star wide receiver out of Humble, Texas, Easter is currently committed to play for Joey McGuire and Texas Tech, but there's a lot that could happen between now and signing day.
Largely because there’s a lot of time between now and signing day. And all of that time presents opportunities for players like Easter to consider every possible option. Which is why on May 29, Easter will be visiting Columbus, Ohio.

Just truly, this group is very, very excited about the fact that Ohio State will be hosting one of the most talented wide receivers in the country. Which makes sense. I mean, it’s not great for Texas Tech, but it makes sense that they’d be excited.

Now, all of that said, it’s good to remember that there’s a lot that can happen between now and signing day and the Red Raiders still hold his commitment. But there are a few other visits on Easter’s schedule over the next few weeks.
He visited the LSU Tigers on April 17 and then currently has a trip to the Ole Miss Rebels on June 5, a trip to visit the Red Raiders in Lubbock on June 18, and then a trip to Alabama on June 19, according to 247 Sports.
That’s a lot of traveling all over the place for college visits. This is going to be something that the Red Raiders will need to pay attention to.
