Gloating Texas Tech fans have a blast on X after upsetting Iowa State
Texas Tech football fans can be an insufferable bunch. Regardless of whether the Red Raiders win or lose, it seems like Tech fans are going to be vocal.
Of course, over the past two weeks, the vast majority of Red Raider fans have been upset. A blowout home loss to Baylor and a one-point loss to TCU that saw Tech fumble away a 17-point lead left many around Raiderland bitter, cynical, and ornery.
That all changed after the Red Raiders stunned No. 11 Iowa State on Saturday in Ames. In fact, Red Raider fans were downright giddy on social media following the 23-22 triumph.
One person on Twitter who took a lot of heat from Tech fans after this game was well-known Iowa State fan "Cyclone Larry" who prior to the game predicted a huge Iowa State blowout and said that Texas Tech's star running back Tahj Brooks is "mid". As you might expect, Tech fans were all over him on Saturday evening.
Meanwhile, the tone this week was far different from Texas Tech University regent and former Texas Tech football player Cody Campbell who after last week's loss to TCU referred to complaining Red Raider fans as "Pink Raiders". However, many fans still had fun at his expense.
Yet another big story from this past week was the fact that Texas Tech feared that Baylor and TCU had hacked into the Red Raiders' coach-to-player communications the past two weeks. After beating ISU, some fans had fun with that story as well.
Texas Tech was even made fun of by ESPN's Rece Davis for filing a complaint with the Big 12 about the communications system issue. What's more, every panelist on College GameDay picked the Cyclones to win. Tech fans were quick to jump all over that after the game.
Finally, Joey McGuire's emotional postgame interview on the T.V. broadcast made many Red Raiders proud. It's amazing what one win over a top-ranked team can do for a coach's perception among his constituents.
