The Oklahoma Sooners sure found a way to get a pretty fun and dramatic win over the Tennessee Lady Vols. While there are some Oklahoma softball fans who are used to the Sooners just coming out and crushing foes, Tennessee actually managed to put up an interesting and fun amount of fight against the Sooners.
But, uh, that wasn’t enough. To be completely fair to all parties involved, Oklahoma took advantage of Tennessee not being able to close this game out and the Sooners got to celebrate a pretty fun win against the Lady Vols.
I mean, we’re talking about a game that Tennessee held a 3-1 lead in during the bottom of the 7th inning with two outs. And while there were a couple of baserunners on for Oklahoma, this is a game that Tennessee probably should have been able to close out.
Unfortunately for Tennessee (and fortunately for OU), that wasn’t the case. Now the Sooners get the chance to move on into the winners’ bracket while the Lady Vols are one loss away from getting sent home via elimination, which would not be fun.
So, how does this game change the 2025 Women’s College World Series bracket?

As for the Lady Vols? Well, Tennessee will play on Friday in Game 5 against the Florida Gators. And you know what that is? It’s also a rivalry game! With some high stakes! The loser of Tennessee and Florida will be sent home. The winner gets a shot at a bit of redemption.
