Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire knows talent is one of the most important aspects of a football player, but when it comes to Red Raiders football, that is not all his players have to have. When McGuire joined ESPN College GameDay, he was asked the type of players he wants in the building to match the culture that he is building in Lubbock.

McGuire kept things simple. Of course, he wants his players to be extremely talented football players, but they also have to have one more thing to really make them true football players.

"You gotta have talent, you are a better coach when you have talented football players, but we want guys that love football," McGuire said. "We are looking for guys that love football."

McGuire truly hit the nail on the head when he said that if guys want to play at this level and beyond, they truly have to love the game of football. If they don't love it, then they won't put the effort and work into their game to truly get better, and McGuire has found a great group of guys to do that right now in Lubbock.

It is clear that McGuire has a team that is not only talented but also loves the game. It is hard to become a top-ranked team without a team full of talent. Texas Tech is near the top of the Big 12 for a reason, and a big part of it is because of its offense. The Red Raiders have the best offense in the conference, averaging 43.6 points per game, almost four more points than the team behind them, which is Utah.

The best part of the Red Raiders is that they also have the best defense in the Big 12, allowing only an average of 13.2 points per game to opponents. They will certainly meet a tough opponent today, going against No. 7 BYU, but the Cougars have yet to face a team like Texas Tech.

McGuire hopes to not only lead his team to a win, but to the top of the Big 12 and an even better ranking next week.
