There are plenty of people who are thrilled that the Texas Tech Red Raiders were able to tack yet another win onto their resume by beating the UCLA Bruins in the 2025 Women’s College World Series. There are plenty of people who enjoy seeing NiJaree Canady routinely throw dominant performances to help lead the Red Raiders to impressive wins.

But there aren’t many people who fall under those aforementioned categories who have platforms as large as the one Patrick Mahomes stands on.

One of the greatest athletes that Texas Tech has seen in any sport sure is thrilled that his alma mater is continuing to do great things and he is VERY vocal in his support of the Red Raiders softball team. Once again, Mahomes is publicly supporting and celebrating how Texas Tech softball is thriving in Oklahoma City.

I think it’s great that we’re seeing Mahomes jumping in and celebrating the Red Raiders softball team in this way. The more prominent exposure that TTU can get and the more support that guys like Mahomes can give to this team, the better everyone is for it.

And of course, it is an absolutely great thing that there is something to celebrate to begin with. I mean, without the wins, social media celebrations don’t exist. So, let’s just go ahead and take another moment to enjoy that the wins are happening (because folks, they are so dang easy to enjoy).

The sort of dominant efforts that we’re seeing from NiJaree Canady are worth enjoying. There is a reason why Mahomes called her the GOAT. She is, in terms of impact and talent, also one of the greatest athletes that Texas Tech has ever had.

So take a moment. Post on social media. Celebrate and have some fun. The Red Raiders have won a couple of games in the Women's College World Series. That doesn't happen everyday.
