A solid win for NiJaree Canady and the Texas Tech Red Raiders softball team is certainly on the receiving end of plenty of attention from just about anyone and everyone associated with the university and West Texas and such.
After Canady’s dominant performance against the Ole Miss Rebels to get the first ever win for TTU during a Women’s College World Series, Tech’s star pitcher has attracted a ton of attention and support across social media.
Which makes sense! During the third game of the 2025 Women’s College World Series, against the Ole Miss Rebels, Canady managed to strike out 10 opposing batters while holding the Rebels to just a couple of hits at the plate.
She improved upon her already remarkable ERA! Canady thrived in this game against one of the most intriguing teams in college softball and she did it on the biggest stage that college softball has to offer and with a national audience paying pretty close attention.
And as we’ve noted, Patrick Mahomes (a true and absolute legend for the Texas Tech Red Raiders) is paying pretty close attention to what’s happening in Oklahoma City. And so it shouldn’t shock anyone that the former TTU quarterback is heaping praise in Canady’s direction.
Patrick Mahomes praises NiJaree Canady after dominant Women’s College World Series performance vs. the Ole Miss Rebels
Mahomes has certainly seen plenty of great moments and phenomenal athletes performing at high levels all throughout his career. And while it makes sense that he’d say something like this to a star as prominent and successful as Canady, this is still high praise to sit back and enjoy for a moment.
Canady absolutely must be proud of what she accomplished against the Rebels to get Texas Tech’s time in the 2025 Women’s College World Series going. Without her having such a strong and dominant showing against Ole Miss, it’s certainly plausible that things could have become complicated as the Rebels also had a strong showing in the circle.
But now Ole Miss is in the elimination bracket. The Red Raiders have moved on to the winners’ bracket. And that’s a good thing for TTU fans to sit back and enjoy.
