It’s been very evident that he’s been keeping up with the Texas Tech softball team all throughout this magical run to the Women’s College World Series, but now Patrick Mahomes has showed up in person to root for the Red Raiders in Game 2 of the WCWS Finals against the Texas Longhorns.

It’s always great to see the support that Mahomes has for his alma mater (and just about everything that TTU is doing and thriving in at any given time) and it’s been fun tracking the way that he’s cheered on the Texas Tech softball team lately.

And as you’ll hear from him, Mahomes sure is on board with rooting for everything the Red Raiders are a part of:

The chat with ESPN’s very own Holly Rowe also gave Mahomes an opportunity to talk briefly about the fact that softball is making tis return to the upcoming summer Olympics, which is something I’d admittedly briefly forgotten about and I’m grateful that he mentioned.

Now, let’s get away from Mahomes and back to the game for a minute (thugh it is great to see him at college softball’s biggest stage in support of the Red Raiders).

Game 2 of the Women’s College World Series finals is a pretty big deal for the Texas Tech softball team. There’s no margin for error at this point. The Red Raiders saw their perfect postseason run snapped by the Longhorns in Game 1 on Wednesday night, which means that this game must be won by Tech.

Without a win, this series ends and the Longhorns will be crowned as national champs. With a win, the Red Raiders will force a Game 3. And hey, if there’s a Game 3, then maybe we’ll get to talk about Mahomes showing up again to continue to support Texas Tech.
