Baylor enters the season with the pressure on head coach Dave Aranda after a 3-9 season in 2023. That was the second-straight losing season for a program that won the Big 12 in 2021.
New offensive coordinator Jake Spavital has arrived and with him, he's brought an "Air Raid" offense to replace a run-heavy scheme. To operate the offense, Toldeo transfer QB Dequan Finn will be asked to give the Bears improved QB play.
He'll have plenty of weapons to work with, including big-play senior WR Monaray Baldwin who averaged over 16 yards per catch last season. However, the defense could still be an issue.
Aranda is known as a defensive guru but his side of the ball gave up over 33 points per game last year. The head coach is now calling defensive plays again but that likely won't be enough to make up for a lack of talent on that side of the ball.
