Texas Tech only gets one more shot at beating Texas in Lubbock

If there is one game this season that Tech can't afford to drop, it would be the February 27th home game against Texas. In fact, that game means everything to this program and university.

We already know that the Red Raiders can beat the Longhorns. They did so in Austin to open Big 12 play.

However, getting one last win over the Horns in Lubbock would mean more to the people of West Texas than just about anything else. Now, the Longhorns do come to town for a baseball series in early March meaning the Red Raider faithful will have three more chances to jeer the Burnt Orange but as for basketball, this game is it.

Texas hasn't enjoyed life in Lubbock lately. Tech is riding a three-game winning streak over UT in Lubbock and has won seven of the last eight games in the series played at United Supermarkets Arena.

That run of good fortune must continue this year because there is no telling if these programs will ever meet on campus again. If UT has its way, that likely won't be the case.

Sometimes games mean more than just one more tally in the win or loss column. That's what this game will be for everyone at Texas Tech and that's why this is the one game in February that the Red Raiders absolutely must win above all others.
