More than eight regular-season wins

Finally, let's go big picture and look at what Tech should strive for. This should be the season that McGuire finally gets over the hump and wins more than eight regular season games.

McGuire's fingerprints are all over every aspect of the program now. What's more, he's got an All-American caliber running back, the best set of wide receivers this program has had in decades, and the most talented Texas Tech QB since Pat Mahomes to run his offense.

If the young defense can just be an average unit, then Texas Tech could be one of the tougher teams to deal with in the Big 12. That would give this program an excellent shot at winning nine games or more.

It is time for McGuire's popularity, energy, and positivity to start yielding significant results on the field. Thus, the goal needs to be to surpass eight wins in the regular season and truly become relevant on the national scene once again.
