Texas Tech football has played, but never beaten, these teams

The Texas Tech football program has been playing football since 1925. And while the Red Raiders have seen a lot of success, there are still some teams they’ve yet to beat.

Texas Tech vs. the A.C.C. and Big 12

Team

Record

Georgia Tech

0-2-0

There was a time when Georgia Tech was a strong football program. That may be hard for modern-day fans to come to grips with.

That's a program that Tech is 0-2-0 against all-time. Technically, Georgia Tech played the Red Raiders for the first time in 1965, they were an independent and not a member of the A.C.C. That day, they scored a 31-21 win over Texas Tech in the Gator Bowl. The programs would meet again five years later in the 1970 Sun Bowl in El Paso. That game turned out to be a 17-9 win for the Yellowjackets.

Cincinnati

0-0-1

There's actually a Big 12 team that Texas Tech has never beaten but that's Cincinnati, a program that has only been in the conference since the 2023 season. The teams haven't played since 1968 when they opened the season with a 10-10 tie in Lubbock. They will renew pleasantries on September 28 of this year when they meet as conference foes at Jones Stadium.
