Why it is ok to buy into Texas Tech football hype again before the 2024 season

Though Texas Tech football fans might be hesitant to buy into any hype surrounding the Red Raiders this offseason, here's why it is ok to have optimism heading into 2024.

Having faith is what being a Texas Tech fan is all about

Finally, let's get a little philosophical. Is there really a point to being a fan if you aren't going to have hope each season?

The great thing about sports is that every season affords us a new opportunity to believe in our team and to convince ourselves that this is the year that things finally break our way. Though that rarely happens for a program of Texas Tech's caliber, it does occur from time to time, just ask TCU in 2022.

If a fan isn't going to believe in a team at the start of the year, then that fan might as well not follow the season anyway. We watch because we believe that something special might happen at any moment and from time to time, we are rewarded.

After all, who saw Tech's magical run to the 2019 Final Four coming in November of 2018? No one. Yet we had optimism at the start of that season and that belief was rewarded.

This isn't to suggest that Tech will make a run to the National Championship Game or even the Big 12 title game this fall. However, it is worth emotionally investing each year because that's the point of sports in the first place. If that's something you can't do, then perhaps the opera or the ballet is how you should spend your time this fall.
