Even as Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers continue their pursuit of trying to flip one of Texas Tech’s highest rated recruits in the 2027 recruiting cycle, it looks like Red Raider fans aren’t all that worried about what’s happening in Baton Rouge.
Sure, it’s not ideal, but it really doesn’t appear as if Texas Tech football fans are concerned at all about how Anthony Sweeney is taking a trip to visit Kiffin and the Tigers. I mean, we’re talking about one of the best recruits in the country who committed to Texas Tech over the likes of LSU, the Alabama Crimson Tide, Ohio State Buckeyes, Texas Longhorns, and so on and so forth.
It’s worth remembering that Sweeney is a headliner for this recruiting class. He’s one of the most physically imposing talents in the country and he wants to play for the Red Raiders. He committed to Texas Tech on April 13. Sweeney is the top-rated player in the state of Maryland, a top 20 player nationally, and 247Sports has him ranked as the No. 3 edge in the 2027 recruiting class.
It shouldn’t shock anyone that plenty of teams are going to be interested in trying to flip him from his Texas Tech commitment.
Texas Tech football fans don’t seem bothered by 5-star Anthony Sweeney visiting Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers
So even though Kiffin’s coaching staff is doing what it can to get Sweeney to Baton Rouge to play for the Tigers, Texas Tech fans aren’t phased. Here’s what they had to say about the news that Sweeney was visiting the Tigers:

We tell all of our recruits to do this and enjoy the experience lol. Not worried in the slightest!

For the most part, Texas Tech football fans just aren’t feeling all that worried about this recruiting battle.
Texas Tech if he wants to win. Simple as that. https://t.co/jCo3rOZBYn

Texas Tech encourages athletes to take their free visits. When they see our facilities, nobody else can compare.

There may not be much of a need to panic. Of course, again, this probably doesn't feel like an ideal sort of situation.
Is our whole class gonna flip to lsu? https://t.co/J5MCrqPwxh

Sweeney is a phenomenal talent that the Red Raiders would certainly benefit from in a major way if he were to end up in Lubbock. And as with every recruiting story ever, there is a lot that will happen between now and when recruits make things official with signing day. But as of right now, it looks like Sweeney is set to be a Red Raider.
He is committed to Texas Tech, recruiting is an ongoing thing, and there is plenty of momentum with the Red Raiders in this recruiting cycle. Texas Tech is recruiting like a blue blood and is getting into recruiting battles with blue bloods. This is going to become more common.
