The transfer portal has been a friend of Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders in recent years, but it looks like sometimes the transfer portal isn’t always going to just simply deliver new, talented players to the Texas Tech football program. Apparently, sometimes, a talented player or two might end up deciding to continue his career with a new team.

Unfortunately, that’s what Kelby Valsin has decided to do. The talented wide receiver out of Arlington, Texas has announced that he will be continuing his career with another program. It’s not the end of the world, but it’s still disappointing to see.

Here’s how Texas Tech fans reacted to the news that the Red Raiders would be losing Valsin to another team through the transfer portal.

While Texas Tech fans certainly aren’t thrilled to see Valsin leaving Lubbock, the Red Raider faithful were very quick to take a moment to thank Valsin for his time as a wide receiver for TTU.

Clearly this isn’t something that Red Raider fans want. That said, it’s still great that Texas Tech football fans wanted to wish Valsin well with what’s up ahead of him. And it will be interesting to see where Valsin ends up landing.

It’ll be fascinating to see where Valsin ends up playing next. He was a three-star recruit out of high school, but he ended up drawing a ton of national attention from programs all over the place

On the West Coast, the Washington Huskies, Washington State Cougars, Stanford Cardinal, California Golden Bears, and Oregon State Beavers were all interested in him. And then there were teams like the TCU Horned Frogs, SMU Mustangs, Arkansas State Red Wolves, and Boston College Eagles interested in him as well.

If he draws that sort of interest from teams again (and there’s certainly a possibility of that), then it’ll be fun to see where he could wind up next.
