Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders will take a pretty important trip on up to Manhattan, Kansas towards the end of the 2025 season as they’ll face off against the Kansas State Wildcats in early November

And while Kansas State isn’t exactly the biggest and proudest brand in college football, it’s a team that has consistently caused major headaches for the Texas Tech football team, especially since 2009. Which, dating back to that win in 2009, Texas Tech has managed to get a grand total of one other win vs. Kansas State in that timeframe.

So, yeah, pretty important for McGuire and the Red Raiders to get this one, to be completely honest. I, for one, think it’d be great to snap an eight game losing streak, especially in Manhattan.

We’re talking about a solid stretch of what has been mostly losses (just two wins) in a series that has plagued the Red Raiders dating back to Tommy Tuberville and through the Kliff Kingsbury and Matt Wells eras of Texas Tech football.

2025 Texas Tech football schedule: When will the Red Raiders face the Kansas State Wildcats?

On November 1, 2025, the Texas Tech Red Raiders will have that chance to find a way to snap this awful losing streak against the Kansas State Wildcats. This is a program that has been a pretty big problem for the Red Raiders since Mike Leach left Lubbock and this is a team that TTU really needs to find a way to beat.

That’s going to be especially important as Texas Tech tries to elevate its ceiling in the Big 12 this season. If the Red Raiders are going to make something of a statement throughout this season, getting a win over a team that has consistently beaten you is a great place to start, if you ask me.
